Motorla i1 – Boost Mobile

Motorola is an Android smartphone that comes with a 3.1 inches capacitive touch screen. The display is responsive and has a built in accelerometer, a proximity sensor and supports multitouch in the form of double tapping.

It delivers vibrant images and crisp text. Although it was released with the Android 1.5 operating system, which is definitely obsolete, the device can be upgraded over the air.

Its communication capabilities include a good call quality, text and multimedia messaging, instant messaging and email. You have personal email with access to POP3/ IMAP accounts and corporate email via Microsoft Exchange. To input a text, you have two possibilities: the standard virtual Android keyboard or the Swype keyboard.

Motorola covers the essentials: phone book limited by available memory, vibrate mode, conference call capability, calendar, alarm clock, calculator, voice recorder and speakerphone. On the higher end, you have Wi- Fi, GPS, stereo Bluetooth, push to talk mode, Opera Mini 5 (you can also switch to the Android WebKit browser) and iDEN network.

As for fun, you have a digital player, a disappointing 2.5 mm head set jack and a 5 megapixels camera that has editing options and video recording capabilities. The latter delivers pretty mediocre pictures for such a high resolution camera: the images look sharp enough, but the colors look washed out. The smartphone comes preloaded with a few applications, like: Google Talk, Google Maps, YouTube and Gmail. If you crave more apps, you have the Android Market at your disposal.
